The Fz16 is cashes in on the fat rear tyre craze with the youth, offering a wide 140-section rear-tyre, adding to the muscular design theme of the bike. Other features include a fully digital speedo console, thick front forks, electric start, alloy wheels, side stand indicator, pass-light switch, and a mono-shock rear suspension.

The 2016 Yamaha FZ16 delivers an average mileage of 50kmpl.

The FZ16 is designed in true streetfighter fashion, with an aggressively styled front section and a sparsely styled rear. The bike comes fitted with a wide handlebar and moderately rear-set foot pegs that seat the rider bent slightly forward with the feet placed towards the rear, in a position that offers maximum control during spirited riding while not adversely affecting comfort during everyday usage.

The Yamaha FZ16 is powered by an air-cooled 153cc single cylinder engine that is tuned for low-end torque, developing 13.8 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 13.6 Nm torque right from 6000rpm. A 5-speed constant mesh gearbox is used to transfer power to the rear wheels.

The FZ16 employs telescopic forks at the front and a gas-charged mono shock absorber at the rear. Usage of a mono-shock rather than dual shock absorbers helps in reducing the unsprung mass of the bike, thereby improving the dynamic characteristics of the bike.

The FZ16 uses a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. A rear disc brake option is not available.
